The permafrost and active layer monitoring system is under constraction. The site is the source area of the Juncal River. The planned long term ground temperature detection system will be working from 2500 to 4500 m asl. The location represents the semiarid Andes, and the area is characterised by short high-mountain glaciers and abundant rock-glaciers.
